06 Apr The Veterinary Profession urgently needs your help – take action now!
Just like many businesses many veterinary practices have had to furlough large portions of their teams to minimise the massive financial impact of COVID19, whilst at the same time continuing to provide essential veterinary care to their clients and patients.
This has resulted in many Practices operating with two skeleton teams who take it in turns to be furloughed.
The current furlough rules mean that furloughed vets must be taken out of the business for 3 weeks at a time, leaving their colleagues to work 24 hour shifts 7 days a week to cover all emergency calls and treatments, for 3 weeks at a time.
This is unsustainable and dangerous.
Let’s try to help ensure that this difficult time doesn’t unnecessarily become an even more dangerous one for our veterinary professionals and the animals they care for.
Please take 5 minutes to download and complete the templated letter we have created and send it to your local MP. This letter asks for support in adapting the furloughing guidelines to provide a weekly furlough option for those professions with on call requirements during this time.
